The BMW ipod kit lets you bring your iPod along for the ride.

Car enthusiasts agree that one of the most pleasurable automobiles available is the BMW. Known for their distinctive kidney-shaped grills, four headlights, and a sleek aerodynamic shape, drivers know BMWs offer a reliable ride every time you sit behind the wheel.

There are so many models to choose from, and body styles range from sedans, sports wagons, coupe, convertible, roadster and sport activity vehicles, so you will be sure to find exactly the right car to meet your specific desires as well as needs. When it comes to your car’s audio system, there is nothing like listening to your music from your iPod. With a BMW iPod kit, you can always have the exact tunes or podcasts that you want to listen to, anytime you want to go for a drive.

There are iPod car audio adapters, as well as iPod holders for use in your vehicle. Excellent integration kits offer great sound and flexible control for the iPod. You can direct its actions from the iPod unit itself, the steering wheel or your car’s radio. The bmw ipod kit has an adaptor which will also charge your iPod so that it is always ready to play. If you want to watch video on your iPod there are options with some bmw ipod kits come with a cradle that allows for a video out function. A good cradle will allow you to rotate, tilt and angle your iPod for the best position.

Some kits can be installed fairly quickly as well. A cable connects to the iPod on one end and the adapter on the other. The adapter then is connected to your car’s radio through the vehicle’s CD changer connection. That’s it. Whether you have a 3G, 4G with color and monochrome, a 5G with photo and video, a mini or a Nano, you will find it a simple matter to connect your iPod to your BMW’s existing audio system.

You will be pleased to know that many BMW iPod kits run very well on the factory radio already installed in your BMW. You should be able to browse your song list from your car’s radio.

You will also have the capability of fine-tuning the treble, mid and bass to the levels you most prefer for the type of music you listen to in your vehicle. It is important to note that if the equalizer and bass boost are turned on on your iPod, this can distort the sound that it produces when it is played through your car’s audio system, so it is best to turn both off, and experience the clean sounds that you have come to expect from your digital music on your iPod.

Drives in your BMW just got more fun when you bring your iPod along for the ride.

Green Cars; Can They Help Minimize the Problem of Global Warming?

Global warming is one of the most hotly debated issues today. Cars have been identified as one of the leading contributors to the escalating global warming problem. To minimize the effects of cars on the environment and limit its impact on global warming, a potential solution has been identified: green cars.

According to those who believe in global warming, drivers need to start using green cars. But what exactly are green cars and would they really slow down global warming?

Electric cars and hybrid cars are two such types of green cars. In reality, electric cars are not at all environment friendly. In order to get an electric car to run, it must be “charged” in power stations. These power stations convert only 30% to 40% of the energy into electricity. When the electricity is being transferred from the station to an electric car, 30% of the electricity is lost along the electric cables. Thus, by the time the electricity reaches the electric car, much of the energy is lost. Electric cars may cut down pollution in inner cities, but they aren’t efficient at all.

Hybrid cars, on the other hand, are becoming the preferred cars by many motorists. A hybrid car has both an electric motor and a gas engine. The energy generated whenever you brake is what powers up the motor battery. Compared to electric cars, hybrid cars appear to be more environment friendly — in theory, at least. In practice, however, hybrid cars are still not up to par.

Which?, a British consumer magazine put four hybrid cars to the test by driving them all throughout London. The four hybrid cars performed poorly. George Marshall-Thornhill, the senior research at Which?, wrote: “Some of these should have performed much better.”

Hybrid cars are not at all completely “green” either as the batteries would still need to be disposed of. They aren’t exactly biodegradable. Cost is another disadvantage of hybrid cars. For most people, hybrid cars are expensive compared to the regular engine-run cars. Since hybrid cars are a relatively new car concept, they are still not produced in a large scale so as to drive the costs down.

The bottom line is that green cars like the pure electric cars and hybrid cars end up using more energy, are more difficult to dispose of and are just too expensive for common motorists. Perhaps in a few years, green cars would be a legitimate option for motorists, but for now it still falls short of being a practical solution to global warming.

Audi A4 and R10 Article

Audi A4 DTM

To say that Audi has been successful in motorsports the past few years would be a gross understatement. Both the diesel-powered R8 and R10 TDI LMP1 race cars have dominated the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the American Le Mans Series, while Audi A4-based race cars have also been champions in DTM racing. For 2008, Audi is going whole hog into motorsports, investing more money and cars into these two successful series. Audi will be going for its sixth victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans next June with three R10 race cars, and in addition to entering another two R10 TDIs in the American Le Mans Series, it will also field a pair in the Le Mans Series in Europe. Aside from the 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race, this will be the first time the Audi R10 TDI and Peugeot 908 HDi, both powered by diesel engines, square off on a regular basis. Lucas Luhr, who previously could be found driving in the DTM series, will also make the switch to the Audi R10 TDI in the Le Mans Series.

Audi R10

While we spent the entire last season of the American Le Mans Series watching the Audi R10 TDI duke it out with the entire LMP2 field, the Le Mans Series in Europe featuring Audi versus Peugeot will be where the best racing can be had. Too bad SPEED hardly shows anything but NASCAR now.

A look at the Ford Mondeo

In 2007 at the Geneva Auto show Ford Motor Co. unveiled the all new Mondeo. The company’s chief aim with the Mondeo is to offer a more out of the box design, energetic and a total package kind of vehicle. This new car has brought Ford back onto the automotive scene, and they have done so in a big way with this car.

The Ford Mondeo is well known for the attributes of strength it brings to the driving experience and safety. The new model is much more enhanced in terms of the car’s performance on every attribute, and has a brand new design and improved quality. The Mondeo was released as a sedan, five-door hatchback, and a wagon.

The Ford Motor Company’s Global Shared Technologies initiative has both about an improvement in the Mondeo and although the car is similar in architecture to the Ford S-Max and the improved Ford galaxy, it is still a very unique model. The new Mondeo hold on to the old Mondeo’s strength and is fitted with great features such as a limousine style luxury and Noise Vibration and Harshness reduction engineering, superior lighting inside the cabin and soft touch materials. The aim of the company was to develop a car that people had an emotional connection to and that would attract them to it. This attraction and connection was to begin with the cars aesthetics and then it’s new technology. Ford’s primary goal here was to excite and impress people whenever the car is seen so much so they would want to get one for themselves.

Not only does the Ford Mondeo possess great styling and a rugged stance, it also has what is called driver-focused technology such as keyless entry and start, Human Machine Interface for the instrument panel, Adaptive Cruise control, Tyre Pressure Monitoring system and Interactive Vehicle Dynamics Control and Hill Launch Assist. These are just some of the impressive new technologies to be found in this dynamic car.

Many auto critics and reviewers see the Ford Mondeo’s list of desirable auto equipment features such as the Electronic Stability Programme, cap less refuelling, fuel inhibitor, seven air bags, trip computer, input sockets for external audio devices which are located in the glove compartment, eighteen inch wheels and ‘follow-me-home’ lights. These are why some critics are calling the Mondeo the total package.

Some reviewers who drove the Mondeo were enthralled by its driving quality and thought that it was of high standard. This feature of the car is an integral one and the engineering that was done to make it so did not in any way compromise the cars safety. Ford’s improved Intelligent Protection System is what drives the driver and occupant protection technology. This technology encompasses features such as a knee airbag on the driver’s side, and curtain airbags.

The new Ford Mondeo can be had with a1.8-liter diesel engine up to a five cylinder gas unit giving up to 200 horsepower. There is the option of having either a six-speed manual or an automatic transmission. Driving the Mondeo should be stable and flawless as the car has a low centre of gravity.
